End of legal proceedings:

NATHALIE PIRET AND PIERRE GIONET REACH AN AGREEMENT WITH LACHUTE, THE RIADM AND THE RAEUCL


Lachute, April 30, 2021– Nathalie Piret and Pierre Gionet jointly announce with the councils ofthe City of Lachute, the Régie intermunicipale Argenteuil Deux-Montagnes (RIADM) and theRégie d’assainissement des eaux usées Chatham-Lachute (RAEUCL) that an agreement
has been reached, putting an end to all legal proceedings.

On June 25, 2020, the Administrative Labour Court ruled that the dismissals of Nathalie Piret and Pierre Gionet were without just and sufficient cause and that the decisions made by the City of Lachute, the RIADM and the RAEUCL should be annulled. It was also ordered that the two municipal officers should be reinstated with all their rights and privileges. In addition, the Court ruled that they are entitled to claim all appropriate remedies, including those for damage to their reputation.

On December 15, 2020, the Québec Supreme Court refused to stay the reinstatement order issued by the Administrative Labour Court in favour of Nathalie Piret and Pierre Gionet.

The City of Lachute, the Régie intermunicipale Argenteuil Deux-Montagnes (RIADM) and the Régie d’assainissement des eaux usées Chatham-Lachute (RAEUCL) decided to duly acknowledge the decisions made in favour of Nathalie Piret and Pierre Gionet and, following discussions, it was agreed that it was to the best advantage of all parties to come to an agreement. Consequently, all resolutions
that led to the dismissals will no blame, reprimand or sanction on their employment
files. It was also agreed that they will not seek reinstatement.

The City of Lachute, the Régie intermunicipale Argenteuil Deux-Montagnes (RIADM) and the Régie d’assainissement des eaux usées Chatham-Lachute (RAEUCL) wish them the best of luck in their future professional endeavours.

For their part, Nathalie Piret and Pierre Gionet wish to thank all those who never doubted their professionalism and integrity. They hope that the decisions rendered in their favour, the repeal of the resolutions of dismissal and the correction of their employment record will counteract all the negative press they have been subjected to since 2015.

Finally, the parties have agreed to limit their comments to the terms of this press  elease, in a desire to bring this matter to a definitive close.
